If you have a setting selected to turn your monitor off after a time of idleness, open DISPLAY PROPERTIES, click SCREENSAVER TAB, then POWER. In POWER OPTIONS PROPERTIES, you can select a time that you want your monitor to turn of, or you can select NEVER.

If it's some sort of power problem with your monitor, flat panels have an inline transformer in the power chord that's usually the culprit and can be easily replaced, CRT's are throw aways, just get a new one.

Heat can do that. Sometimes computers get clogged up with dust that makes them get hotter. Hot weather doesn't help either. To find out if the computer is over-heating, take off the side-cover ...anything more than barely warm in there could cause problems.
You can run it with the side-cover off and even set up a fan to blow on it for a temporary solution. You might solve the problem by cleaning it out and making sure it is getting plenty of air and the room is cool. If not there are many reasonably priced computer parts to help solve the heat problem. you can push it up a lot or just put a piece of like wood under it to hold it you mean computer screen right?
