If so, why?

I don't think so, they've earned their status.
And the coffee doesn't taste the same on the east coast as it does on the west coast (west coast MUCH better), not to mention there are flavors on the west coast you can't get on the east coast.

I buy because regardless of what I make at home or where I've bought elsewhere, no one else has the "crack laced" coffee like Starbucks!

Irish cream lattes ... Yum!!

No..........it's the MEETING PLACE of the world. Ask anyone and they know where THE Starbucks is that your talking about meeting at... and they instantly KNOW.

Ask them to meet you at another coffee house, and they'll say "WHERE?"...but ask them to meet you at a Starbucks on the southeast corner of Main and First and they'll go "oh...ok---c-ya there".
and why? because the coffee and the cocoa is good...and it's a 'hotspot' for the internet, and they have comfortable seating or good places for your computer---and usually near the place you and they are either AT or GOING TO.
& the "people watching" is the BEST...not to mention it's a great place to meet a new 'friend' or w/e.
anything else? I'm sure theres' more

Yes, but Starbucks does serve good products from coffee to tea, breakfast sandwiches (which are very reasonably priced), pastries, and juice products and music.

I think many people don't like Starbucks because it a successful business and keeps building on it's successful business model.

That reminds me, I've gotta get my triple vente right now!

No!
I love to sit at Starbucks and have a great cup of coffee and people watch. In fact I have met several people there that I have dated or become friends with! It is the best entertainment to be had for $4.00.

It's good stuff, but I'll take a local shop over Starbucks if it's available.

yes. I don't think people go to Starbucks for the coffee and coffee related products. They go for the lifestyle associated with the coffee shop.

I think if people took the time to see how over-priced the coffee was they'd think so. I personally think you can make your own blends, which probably taste better and are cheaper, than going to a convienant store that'll charge you $5.

I would say most certainly. The coffee is bitter tasting and the desserts are so expensive. And the atmosphere is a bit snobby. I prefer dunkin donuts coffee taste, and it is less expensive.

oh yeah! Tim Horton's rules! The coffee at Timmy's isn't bitter and it's cheaper. $1.19 for a medium coffee.
