I am a good provider for my wife. Have a good sense of humor and we have very similar taste in most all our activities. But Mother-in-Law is still critical of whatever I do. I remain friendly and even do nice things for her because I know it confuses and agitates her. Oh well......

Most mothers have the idea that NO ONE is good enough for their son or daughter. You may bend over backwards and put your head up your behind for her and it still won't do any good. You can only live with it.
I do like that you're nice to her just to confuse and agitate her, though. Sounds like a safe way to get a little revenge.

I really don't know. It is counter productive if you ask me.
Seems stupid to alienate your child's spouse. My mom is super cool. My husband likes her and she likes him. She comes over here, we go over there. BUT...his mother. No stinking way. She hates me (doesn't even know me). She won't come to the house and I won't go to her's. She spends holidays alone as a result. I don't understand why she doesn't just pretend to like me so that she can have a relationship with her son. Her distaste for me has made her a lonely crabby b*tch.

Some mothers-n-law can really be outlaws. Some of them seem to make it their job to be hard on their children's spouses. It's just life.

Ignore her and it will get easier to let it go in and out of your head...
What she says is entirely useless anyway... At least I know with my hubby's mom it is!
And I don't mean that in a bad way... It just is! ♥

My mother in law is the same way...She is always cocky about everything that I tell her.I think that they do that to try to make you feel stupid...Maybe it makes her think that she is smarter or something ,either way it is really really annoying
