I never read Agatha Christie because I do not read mysteries.

I am a big fan of Charles Dickens. I don't know how he does it, but his books are pulsating with life - he has a knack of really drawing you into his world.

I just finished reading David Copperfield for the second time because I just couldn't leave the characters and the story - I was so attached to them.

Now I am reading Oliver Twist and this is a very difficult book to take - very dark. The portraits of evil, criminality and hypocrisy are very passionate and intense - maybe even more so because of the ironical, satirical approach of the narrator.

I also read Tale of Two Cities a long time ago and I remember I cried when the character gave up his life for another character that looked like him, so that the love of his life could be happy. The portrayal of heads rolling during the French Revolution was very chilling and horrifying.

In sum, Charles Dickens is really a unique and original writer who knows how to engage the reader and make the world of his novel real. I love Dickens and I would like to read all his novels.
