You can cultivate a sense of humor, anyone can. I think everyone can have some level or degree of it (some high, others strange, others very low or droll), if they don't try too hard and if they love to laugh (which most everyone does love to laugh, even if they don't admit to it).
First you have to see the positive side of serious or sometimes negative situations. If you can think positive you are close.
you also have to have a good sense of IRONY. Yes, irony (not sarcasm but that is also an asset for some to find humor) is a way to find humor. If you ever watch Jay Leno late Monday Night, he always pulls out these hilarious headlines of typos, grammatical errors and other mistakes done in newspaper articles, magazines, and even just ads. It is the double entender OR the IRONY (pun or play on words/photos) that can make you laugh at the Jay Leno "HEADLINES".
And last but actually the MOST IMPORTANT, in order to have develop a good sense of humor, NEVER TAKE YOURSELF TOO SERIOUSLY. You are okay but you are not perfect. We all make mistakes, so laugh at your OWN mistakes, find an "inside" joke about yourself and share it with those who will appreciate it. The ability to laugh at yourself is the mark of a person with a great sense of humor.

Ha! Practice laughing. I'm serious. I had to drive to work and was so bored but I started practicing different laughs while I was driving. Eddie, said they would think I was nuts but I even thought that was funny. I practiced so well. It changes the chemistry in your body. I read that somewhere. I have a great laugh, my neighbors tell me so. It is like music and a waterfall and I end on a high note. If I was an actress, I would practice. This is for you. Practice. Also riding horses has some effect. I don't know why but with hippotherapy, I began to get really strangely happy even when they told me terrible things, I would laugh. We would have me ride before a college exam and I would ace it everytime. Maybe you will have to call me up and let me hear your laugh. Then I also started doing cartoons. Some were not funny but the more I did them, the more I laughed. Surround yourself with the noise of laughing. Good luck. ha.

Everyone has a sense of humor. You must find SOMETHING funny!
If you are having trouble finding it, rent a variety of comedies, and watch with an open mind. ( I love Bruce Almighty and The 40 year old Virgin)
Don't be stiff, judgmental, or reserved. Watch them by yourself first if you feel more comfortable. You will laugh eventually.
If you are really looking for funny stuff, try George Carlin, Steven Wright, Dave Chappelle, and Carlos Mencia. I also used to love Sinbad stand up, and I recently saw Kyle Cease on On Demand.
All hilarious. Laugh away.

Watch alot of comedies and laugh all the time. No I'm just kidding. Basically, a person without a sense of humor takes everything to seriously and never have a laugh at themselves. To have a sense of humor and losen up a little.

A sense of humor is a trait that is normally passed on from patent to children. But you can practice causing others to smile and continue until it becomes second nature. But it will never be a proper sense of humor.

hard to develop a sense of humor.............i feel that it comes from inside you and you let it out for others to see and enjoy..........
i also think it is rolling with what ever is happening at the time, trying to make the best positive thoughts, and then it might come as humor. laughing at things also is good practice and then the humor will come out[good luck]

First, I want to advise against doing it at someone's expense. I was brought up where NO MATTER how much you don't like someone, or no matter how much you don't like a trait about someone, you don't laugh at it ( i.e., it's not funny when someone falls down the stairs even when you don't like that person).
Just think of some jokes you make up yourself, and see if you find them funny.
Watch comedies off the T.V., or some stand-up comics.
Some of the funniest people are people who are funny without trying.
Those are a couple ways here.

Hi.
There is humour in every situation.
Some people are just born serious .
People with a dry humour crack me up too !
one has to learn to laugh at oneself too.
Laughing out loud releases tension too.
Practice seeing the funny side , the same as one can see the pos and negative side of situations.
Smile at people, it costs nothing, and makes one feel good when you get a bright smile in return.

It's what you make out of life! Your day to day experience can turn into a lot of humor it's how you perceive it and project it!

By default? If you get kicked around enough... It is either a life of misery or it becomes funny. It is sometimes nothing more than a survial instinct. Those who are of full-spectrum intelligence and or blessed, learn humor early.
