...the new HDVD and BlueRay DVD disks are far in development.

This means that the DVDs you own, home vidoes, and custom DVDs are soon going to be like the VHS tape. Obselete.

Soon you'll HAVE to own a HDTV to watch movies and channels.

Are you happy with technology progressing o fast, or do you like it to be slower, to give you time to transfer everything from DVDs to the newest media.?

They will only obsolete DVDs if customers purchase the new formats. If you don't buy those, then Sony and Panasonic (thats who is doing the HDVD right?) will have to change their support plans. As it stands right now Sony is selling PSP and BluRay DVDs side by side with regular DVDs and regular DVDs are selling hand over fist better than any other option.

If they are going to replace DVDs the producers need to make it worth the consumer's money to upgrade. The new DVD formats offer nothing other than more ways for the producers to control the consumers, not more options for the consumer. Until Sony et.al. realize that, they will just throw more money away and lose market share.
