Aside from waitstaff in a restaurant or bar, parking valets and hotel staff, I only tip those that I have an ongoing relationship with... my hairdresser... manicurist... masseur, etc.

I was floored when my trash collector left a card on my garbage bin just before Christmas, introducing himself and basically mooching for a gratuity. First of all, it's a different guy every other week and secondly, they all leave a bloody mess of tiny bits of trash at the curb that I have to clean up.

Even if you didn't pay extra for the delivery, I promise you that it was factored into the price. I don't mean to sound petty, but in most instances so little emphasis is placed on "customer service" these days that I don't feel that simply getting what I paid for warrants a gratuity.

Yes. depending on what they did. Did they arrive on time? Are they disposing your old mattress? Did they funk up your bathroom? A starting point of 5 dollars per man is good.
