I have downloaded several videos, and they are all different formats (.xvid, some video_ts, some called "orc-something"), how do I burn these onto dvds that work in normal dvd players?

Depends on the type of files. A video_ts folder will hold actual DVD files. With Nero you can burn those with the video DVD-video files option.
xvid looks more like a format for VCD (video CDs) and orc something isn't enough of a description to come up with anything.
I wouldn't even bother burning anything less than a full DVD.
The quality isn't good enough and a waste of discs and time.

I use Nero, it does an excellent job, and recognises several different formats, it also formats the DVD to record on correctly. And you need a DVD Burner installed on the PC, when you purchase one look for one that has Nero CD included with the burner, Most all burners come with the burning program....... Good luck
