If you "always" have problems with people, it likely may be something you're doing. Take a long, hard, objective look at yourself. What could you change? Are you being abrupt with others? Are you acting superior? Truly, if you always have problems with people at work, it's a good chance you're the reason for it.

You have to consider the nature of your job first. If it's a job that's basically a one man show...not much teamwork required...then you can piss the hell outta these people that you work with. But if you require teamwork constantly to finish a project, think twice about putting in too much effort. People generally feel threatened by a person who outdoes everyone else and that's where sabotaging, bad mouthing and backstabbing come into the picture.
Secondly, consider your direct supervisor's attitude towards you. If your supervisor nods in approval everytime you display diligence, then to hell with the others around you. Their opinion doesn't matter. But be extremely careful...your supervisor might seize the opportunity to dump more work on you since you display signs of being motivated and diligent. Be selective about the assignments that you pick up....only accept tasks that are good for you and you are good at them.
Honestly, you don't need loads of friends at work. In fact, too many friends at work affects your personal agenda because you will feel obligated to help 'friends' at your work place. You will gain people's respect as long as you display signs of being a good team player. And in every task that you do, make sure you trumpet that you aren't doing it for personal gain or glory...you are just doing this for the good of your company....always repeat that loudly for the others to hear.

hi, i had the same problem for 30 years or more. while others lagged, counting time to go home, i produced and never went home on time. as a salaried manager this actually cost me but the experiance and knowledge i gained, over time took me to a very well paying carrer. i learned that jelosy was what drove others to anger. i had it and they did not! keep work relationships under control and keep giving at least 20% more than asked not to mention, promise less and give more, always! your life is what is important and those in anger are not there when it's time for you to buy that dream house. stay above it all and be very proud you have tanacity to keep with it! that is what made this country, hard work, devotion, and a strong sence of pride in self and work!

Congratualtions on being a good worker. Unfortunately, because you are a good worker you're going to have lazy coworkers angry because of jealousy, envy and distrust. They'll wonder if you're a gold digger trying to get ahead on the the corporate ladder. They'll be jealous because you get praise and they don't. they'll be envious because a boss trusts you, and may show a bit of favortism because you've proven loyalty and they haven't.
They'll somehow twist it around that you're trying to personally slam them...while they're calling you inconceviable things behind your back.
Our Hospital is in the middle of improving worker morale and dislike created by an uneven workload (workers who work and workers who don't) is one of our major issues.
Remember to keep up the good work.

Are they lazy? If so, they are probably pissed off because you are working so hard putting them to shame in your supervisor's eyes.

notice the words you use: "always".
Could it be you then?
Maybe its not how hard you work, its the ~way~ you communicate with them.
