These pants are practically cardboard, and were even worse when i bought them. They are slightly softened after 10 washes...anyone know how to get rid of the starch or any ideas on what could soften them completly like an old pair of dickies without the permanent creases. thanks.

I do not know anything about this brand, but if you have washed them that many times and they are still stiff, you are probably dealing with a chemical sizing on the fabric and not starch. One of the things that I do with new fabric is to put fabric softener in both the wash and the rinse. Another thing that is good to know, is that you need to wash them with a full load of laundry as the friction from the other garments help to wear down the sizing.

Wash them at home, and use plenty of fabric softener in the rinse cycle, dry them with a dryer sheet, then take them to the cleaners and ask them to press them flat with a STEAM PRESS only...Ask them not to use any sizing on them....

I found this on the internet...
Soak stiff starchy new cottons in a solution of 1/2 cup milk to 7 water. Soak for at least 1 or 2 hours. Wash off with regular detergents. This will soften the cloth removing undesired stiffness of the starch.

Good Luck

i'd say to soften them up put them in the dryer with a bunch of tennis balls on the cool setting and run it a few full cycles.... my hubby has dickies that are still stiff after 20+ washings i suppose i could try my suggestion myself!
