Only by understanding n accepting it.
The bodily fear of the flight or fight instinct is normal but those voices in the head that prevent a person from really living life is irrational and unnecessary.
This fear needs to be looked at and understood and then finally accepted. Fighting those thoughts and trying to replace them with good thoughts can be very helpful and it has it's place but the fear will still be lurking in the corner........
Sometime try and examine the fear, not to get rid of it but
to see what it is. Ask if what you're afraid of happening now?
Most of the fears we have are only of things we imagine may happen in some imaginary future. Find what it is you are truly afraid of. Self-inquiry.
Also, to really get to the heart of fear try n feel it as an energy.
Emotion is E-motion. Emotions are energy in the body that gets labeled and gets stuck because of resistance. Sometime lay down and take the label "fear" off of this energy, and just let it move freely. It moves on it's own quite rapidly when the obstruction of labels is gone.
The key to beating fear is the acceptance and understanding of it. These two things bring transformation to just about everything.
Then life can really be full n exciting.
good luck!

you control the voices in your head if a daft thought that you dont like or agree with you simply tell it to go away. we should know right from wrong by the age of 6/7 depending upon the upbringing and the situation. our brains react to our environment via the 5 senses. i do think our religious beliefs play an enormous part, even as a youngster i always felt i was being watched and therefore i only really fear God. i have other small fears as well hights and spiders but i know these ones could be over come.

You have to face fear to be able to beat it. That is it starts like this: I'm afraid of this and that thing. I don't want to be afraid of this and that thing. And then yes, you try to find something that distracts you from the voices in your head. But truly, besides that you should get an appointment with a doctor so s/he can help you get rid of these voices.

Learn Raja yoga.
Some practical tips for you: Learn to detach and observe the thoughts in your mind. Do this suddenly and unexpectedly from time to time throughout the day. This practice will enable you to understand that your mind (and thoughts) are part of who you are. Through unemotional observation, you withdraw the 'charge' of the negative thought and thus lessen it's grip over you. Another technique: cut off the thought as it arises and change it to a positive one.
To create good thoughts, you need to implant them. You regain control of the mind by consciously inserting thoughts that are beneficial instead. Word the thought positively. Avoid using a negative in the thought (the word 'not' appears to misunderstood by the subconscious mind, thus 'I'm not going to stumble' is understood as 'I'm going to stumble'. A better way of wording it is 'I'm sure-footed.'
Fear is a warning signal that has a purpose. When it becomes the predominant emotional pattern, it is a sign that the system is under stress. Meditation will assist in calming you.

In a strange way, people are like machines and fear acts like a self repeating virus in your head. You have made a start once you can acknowledge that it exists and is a problem- you can eradicate it.
Try to understand your fear and find out what it stops you from doing and why? For instance, fear of approaching women can develop out of been rejected. However, in such instances, positive input from friends or simply recalling good times can help to reprogramme the brain to think positive. This is why keeping a diary as you overcome your fears is a good thing by writing them down- it's easy to see that your fears are unnecessary or atleast out of portion.
I reccommend learning more about what you fear- be it spiders, talking to strangers or women. There is a saying that most fears stem from a lack of understanding once you understand what you fear it is easier to overcome it.
Hope that helps!

To a degree most people hear voices/thoughts in their head and as long as they are constructive or creative this can be fine, if they stop you from living your life and they can't be accepted by you (accepting a noise can reduce it) speak to a Doctor, just to insure that there is no chemical imbalance or medical help that could be given to allow you to get on with your life. Nowadays we don't have to go through suffering on our own.

Are you talking about fear or instincts and conscience?
Fear is necessary to protect us from dying, but some fears are outdated, echoes from our primal past or early years. Some fears are passed onto us from other people. Understand the nature of fear, listen to it, respect it and realise that good thoughts often come from good feelings. Is it better to have an original thought or to be inspired by an original thinker?
Someone once told me a story about a person always running from their fears, one day they turned to face the monster and saw a small frightened child holding a mirror which reflected it,s fears whenever it was alone and forgotten, the person held and comforted the child and all fears were forgotten. Protect your inner child and remember yourself.

The Litany against fear is a fictional incantation spoken by characters in Frank Herbert's Dune and sequels in order to focus their minds in times of peril. The litany is as follows:
"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."

Ignore or overpower your fears. They are a natural thing to have but don't let them conquer you. We all have good and bad thoughts in our head, don't worry about them, just keep positive and believe in yourself and know your fears won't hold you back.
