No to ding the UK from anywhere you have to put 0044 before any number then miss the fist 0 out of the complete telephone number
eg to ring lowestoft which is 01502 you would use

0044 1502 123456

If you have a mobile the 00 can if easier be changed to + making the number
+44 1502 123456

Hi ah ha you have had a spoof email from the African countries and they want you to ring them or they have given you ths number and it starts with 0023 followed by a 5 or a 6 etc. I do fraud on line checking for a hobby and these stupid fraudsters have in the past used the telephone number for the internet cafe they are using. I then ring them and tell them what I am get the address and tell the various police what is going on. Needless to say I do not use my mobile or house phone and I use a concealed number. Anyway, short answer is do not ring it as sometimes it is a premium rate number, say £10 a minute, that will just hang you on costing you that. 00237 is Cameroon, 00238 Cape Verde, 00236 Central Africa Republic, 00235 Chad, 00233 Ghana, 00231 Liberia, 00230 Mauritius, 00234 Nigeria, 00239 Sao Tome et Principe, 00232 Sierre Leon, Hope that helps!

You need to dial the international access code for the country you're in, followed by 44 (country code for the UK)

The first prefix depends on where you're calling from - you need to know the international access code for the country you're in. For most of Europe, the access code is 00. For the USA, it's 01. In other countries, it could be different. Check with the international operator before you travel.

If you are in the US, I am at the moment, some of the carriers that you use you need to phone "011" to connect to the international operator then you dial 44 for country code then drop the 0 from the area code.

You use 00 44 and then the number, but you take away the 0 at the beginning.

For example if the number was 01234 56789, then from outside the UK you would call 00 44 1234 56789.

use 0044 to dial united kingdom. if you are dialing within the united kingdom all no.s start with a 0 but when dialing from outside the united kingdom the 0044 replaces the first 0, the rest of your no. remains the same.

Let's say you are calling a number that starts 0114 within the UK.

From outside the uk you would dial 0044 114

Basically the "0" at the start is replaced with 0044.

two choices:

0044

or

+44

you have to leave the first number, generally a 0 out and continuou dialing as usual, eg. if you see something like this

0044 (0) 207 35 65 ....

you dial

00442073565...

i hope that helps...
