Mel Gibson.
The Dixie Chicks not only did nothing wrong, they should be *applauded* for saying the things they did about a corrupt and illegal regime.

Any celebrity who speaks out takes the chance of losing fans. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and the right to express it, including people in the public eye. While both of these celebrities comments were in very bad taste, the big difference is the Dixie Chicks were not drunk/stoned when they made their comments. People are going to be more forgiving to Mel Gibson because one he apologized, and two, who hasn't been drunk and said something they shouldn't have. The Dixie Chicks spoke out at very difficult time, when everyone in our country was trying to pull together to support our military, show our patriotism, and show that we were a strong nation regardless of our political feelings. The Dixie Chicks never apologized for their remarks or seemed to care that they may have hurt any ones feelings. Remarks from the Dixie Chicks with the release of their new CD seem to be still be giving the "Middle Finger", to their country fans, and the media. They even insulted Barbara Walters, but did apologize for that by letter. Since they have had to cancel a lot of venues on their new concert tour, including the large city I live in, I'd say they are going to have a tough time of it still. Mel Gibson will bounce back as long as he remains contrite, and keeps his mouth shut.

well I have not a clue what Mel Gibson had to say,,,but ,,nine times out of ten,,,what ever He said was probably true.... I think Mel has a good character about Him,,, on the set and off.... Now the Dixie Chicks are a different story,,,they have a rebellious attitude and Natalie realllly caught hell for Here little comment... Which I think was out of character .....And as a result,,,they lost allot of fans and community support...They received a blemish on their name..... But Mel ,,,,, He will get away with it,,,, He is well loved and people admire Him......

Mel Gibson didn't say he didn't like move fans. The Dixie Chicks said they didn't like country music or the fans. I don't gave a rats a$$ about their politics but you don't insult the people who buy your music.

In my opinion, it shouldn't matter what career you have, famous or not, this is America and we all have the right to freedom of speech. It's like in a relationship... I may not agree w/ every opinion my boyfriend has but that doesn't mean I'm gonna lash out at him and destroy his pictures and go crazy on him. I love the fact that he can think and speak for himself. Just because we don't agree w/ the way someone feels or how they think doesn't mean we can't (at the least ) respect them. I know I would like the same respect in return.
