despite what the logical, sometimes fearful mind was saying you should do?

Yes! I am normally a cautious, reserved person, but a friend of mine talked to me about "analysis paralysis," where people worry so much about something that they hesitate to take action. Also, "FEAR" is described as "F-alse E-xpectations A-ppearing R-eal." That is, much of the negative outcomes we stress about don't happen. And even somewhere in the Bible it says, "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" So sometimes I find it refreshing to follow the call of my heart. Despite my fears and insecurities, I opened up my own business in a small town and have found this to be the best summer of my life--I'm having a blast working with my team. Sure, a lot of things in life involve risk, but many times we find that it is worth the risk. Follow your heart, but don't stop using your brain.

As I tend to be reserved and cautious more times than not, I have followed the call of my heart in small matters, but in big ones, I really have not. I dream all the time, and I really want to follow my heart much more than I do butI seem to fear the outcome too much to really take that first step. By the way, I absolutely LOVE "alcachofita's" answer...WOW! I really believe that fear plays too much into many people's decision to follow their hearts, which is truly sad. I shall try to work on this, and take to heart exactly what alcachofita said in her answer, which really touched a chord in me.

Another wonderful question, Linty! :)

Yes I have. I will be starting school in January 2007 after almost 20 years of being out of college the first time. I think about whether I should or not because I am married and we have been trying to start a family and it has been difficult to conceive. My wife has been supportive, so I guess I needed her to calm my mind long enough to apply. She has already said that no matter what, finish school, even if she gets pregnant. We will work things out.

Yes, I did despite knowing what the consequences would be. It ended painfully, with all the ugly and hurtful words thrown in all directions with all the people who are 'they-call-themselves" concerned. It didn't ended nicely, but it was good while it lasted and was really very happy during those short time we've been together.

I have to wait on "following the call of my heart" since I need to find a job that would put me through a master's degree program.

I think too much...unfortunately I think WAY too much....I mean I guess I would have been much happier if I would have listened my heart at least just a bit....Exactly when I think something like "yeh thats exactly what I should do" my mind tells me "what youre crazy?do u realise what consequences has that?" damn the consequences....if i would have listened to it it would have been better:((

Sometimes. Our minds help us survive, but they don't help us live to the fullest. I'm not courageous enough to follow my heart 100%, but I have been practicing.

"Two roads diverged in a woods and I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference" (Maybe not a perfect quote but the meaning is there) Yes, for the good.

Follow the call of the heart duly filtered by your head. I do that.

Yes, then i find out later that what I wanted isnt really what I needed or what was best for me. God has a way of pointing that out to me constantly.
