Because they are indoctrinated at an early age via public education. Young minds are easy to manipulate and most teachers nowadays seem unable to hold back thier opinions on matters relating to things from politics to homosexuality. These are not things a child should be learning about.
But the teachers have a captive audience and no supervision so they rant and rave when they're dissatisfied or pissed off. And it makes an impression on a kid's mind. They start to feel guilt and start to believe what they're told.
I've witnessed it several times throughout school. It takes a strong mind to see through all the crap a professor spews inbetween teaching math or geography (places that such ranting has no place) and most people are weak minded and susceptible to the opinions of those with more authority and power than themselves. Sad but true.

Lets see are we the ones that blindly followed the president into a war that had nothing to do with terrorists? Are we the ones that believe we would be welcomed as liberators in Iraq? Are we the ones that believed the war would pay for itself? Are we the one's that believe the Iraq war is not about oil? Are we the one's that believe Iraq will be a democratic state? Are we the one's that believe the Iraq war is going good? Are we the one's who believe that Bush actually won the presidency in 2000? Are we the one's who believed Bush in the 2000 campaign that we should not be nation building?

Their not brainwashed, need a brain for that don't they. They just have a genetic disorder called ignorance, science is working a vaccine I hope. They do seem like a lost cause don't they, wish they would get lost somewhere else. Of coarse that's not going to happen, who would want them.

As opposed to the enlightened conservatives. Unfortunately, they're just two sides of the same coin. The sole purpose of those in power is to remain in power, and the best way to do that is to keep the masses happy and stupid. Liberals point fingers at conservatives, conservatives point fingers at liberals, and incumbents get re-elected.
