Are there any moderate Democrats and Republicans left?

Mostly all I hear on this site is rantings like:

Bush is evil.
Or
Democrats R dumb.

I'm technically a liberal conservative.

I don't know what I am, A liberal conservative or a conservative liberal. I am registerd Dem. but I dont' vote party lines. They are all making me sick right now, and don't want to vote for any of them. We need some serious help. We shouldn't be electing our officals on the basis of who's the lesser of two evils. No one cares what we think. I think our leaders need to represent us not their financial backers. I am about to scream!!!

I think one of the saddest trends in this country recently is the polarization of politics. There used to be a sense of common mission even though the parties disagreed on how it should be achieved. Compromises were made and the greater good was served in most instances. Now it's all about winning by vilifying your opponent.

Everyone claims to want clean, positive campaigns, but negative campaigns still win. If the people would actually start to vote against the negative campaigners, we might force them to get back to discussing the issues and reaching across the aisle now and then once elected.
