Without "us" asking questions, there'd be no yahoo! "Answers". So, why penialize us with losing 5 points for asking a question? Am I missing something, and if I am I welcome any and all responses. And, yes, I DID send an e-mail to yahoo! answers about this a few weeks ago and they didn't respond. I could care less personally about points, it's not like it's $$ LOL! But, it just seems a little a$$ backwards to me. ???

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who responded...but in the end, it IS FREE to ask a question, so I don't know...I could care less about losing points, I just like to hear what people have to say...but I see that others do care, so I guess the whole give and take, and being a part of the community thing, makes sense. Thanks again...except the person who just said "no"...No what? Elaborate or don't bother, you didn't help anybody!

Yes it does seem a bit mean but when you pick a best answer you do get 3 points back, and if people then rate your answer you will get more points back.
I can see the need to limit people on asking so they will work on some of the answering. I don't get how some people manage to accrue so many points, tho. I bet there's a cheat that I haven't found out about yet on how to get loads of points quickly without asking or answering anything. Oh well, it's a neat little game as it stands isn't it. Be good if Yahoo gave you some points for a reward after your email, bet they won't tho.

I think they are trying to avoid 1000 questions with no answers. They wanna make a balance, meaning that in order to ask a question, you better answer some first so that you have the points. It actually encourages people to participate.

I disagree. This way they get more people answering than asking questions.
If the questions were for free, there would be too many questions and much less answers.
For the system to work it needs to be this way.
(I don't work for Yahoo! LOL)

Ya it does defeat the purpose. If anything you should earn points for asking a question.

I know, they should award people for keeping the questions going by posting ....I always hesitate to ask questions for fear of losing points that took so long to gain...it is backwards. if no one posts questions, then why are we here>?

I think it should cost points to ask. Maybe they should even raise the cost & keep some of the drivel off of Y!A.

i think it is good that they deduct points because i think we need to give advice in return to asking it. That being said, i think it should be 3 instead of 5.
