OK, I have a question. Is there a certain type of sonar used to track Nessie? Maybe even a certain brand of sonar? Please and thanks for your help!

The attempts to find Nessie with sonar employed "side scan" sonar, which is a device "flown" under the water while being trolled along by a boat.

The same technology is employed by oceanographers, treasure hunters, police departments, marine biologists, etc.

It is different than a "fish finder", so your trip to the sporting goods store will be wasted.
