Would you like it as an instrumental? Are the vocals more important than the musicians playing?

Actually, my husband gets really annoyed with me because I dont always listen to the lyrics, they are like filler for the instruments to me sometimes. So, if it has good instrumental music, i usually dont really care what's being said. I do pay attention, I just like the instruments. If the music is bad, I don't care what the lyrics say, I won't like the song.

As someone who likes death metal, no. Actually I'm sure a lot of non-death fans would say it's better without the vocals!! They're definitely a very important component, but because it's technical and interesting on so many different levels it wouldn't suffer as much as your average pop tune. Some bands I think would be better without the vocals, especially the ones that try to mix in some awful singing with the growling parts i.e. In Flames....

Most of my music choices i think would probably sound great as instrumentals, one im not so sure of, but its supposed to be an accapella anyway so that doesnt really matter. I think the musicians hold just as much importance as the lyrics, inasfar as without a decent melody the words dont work.......but then without a decent singer for the lyrics the song isnt going to sound very good anyway.....some people are just better as song writers rather than being singers as well.

my favorite music is better without the vocals, i'm a U2 fan and sometimes without Bono (as much as I love him) its just so much cooler. I love the message in his lyrics though so maybe if they were like spoken over the instrumental.

Well.... Since most of the music I listen to is "Art Rock" (King Crimson,The Mars Volta, Steve Hackett, etc.), "Symphonic Prog" (Genesis, Yes, The Flower Kings, etc.) "Progressive Rock" (Rush, Dream Theater, Gordian Knot, etc) and "Jazz/Fusion" (Mahavishnu Orchestra, Allan Holdsworth, Pat Metheny, etc.) there wouldn't be much difference since alot of it is instrumental and all about the music, anyway.

absolutely! The Edge is a guitar god! Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen are amazing too! so U2 would totally hold up. I would miss Bono though his sexy voice adds alot.
