Iwas in a clothing store today Iwas looking at a jacket I left it back on the rail I moved away a few yards, when another woman picked up the coat , i waited to see what she was going to do she left it back on the rail, and then I took it from the rail again, she said excuse me that is mine, i said it cant be if its still on the rail . it was the only one of its kind left in the shop. who was right or who was wrong. I told her she could have it she said no. i know it was still the property of the shop what do you thinkand what would you do

You should've bought the jacket. Now she probably bought it by now.

Well if thats what she thought and you picked it up first, then... it was yours according to her definition!!!!!..... if it was still on the rail and you picked it up.... then it was yours according to your definition, if I am interested in something and it's the only one I either carry it around or ask the counter to look after it until I decided, as unfortunately there is that strange saying possession is 9/10ths of the law! so hanging onto an item is always the best way to go.
Definitely think you where right!

Shop rage! another reason I don't go shopping and therefore dress like my house was washed away three weeks ago.

You're right. But to make absolutely sure of your moral superiority you could have said "excuse me, are you finished with that?" when she put it back, assuming she was still hanging round it. If on top form, I would probably do that. If I'm feeling pissed off with the world, I'd certainly do what you did. If in the middle, it's either-or.

it certainly wasn't "hers" in any sense.

Maybe she's just extremely stubborn. I would have come back to the store at during a later hour to see if it was still there. If not, you can usualy talk to a representative of the store and see if they could order you the jacket if it's gone. If it's THE jacket-you know what I mean?

if she wanted it she should of kept hold of it till she decided and not put it back on the rail , you are in the right lol but it still belongs to the shop till either of you pay for the coat

you would have been right if u had other clothing along with the jacket on the rack and if gave her any hint that u still had intentions in buying it. she probably saw that u had left it. i think the other woman would have been right if she was still near the jacket. ( since i wasnt there i cant make a clear judgment)

You're completely right! You had it first, and she put it back on the rail, which mean she didn't want it.Don't worry about that lady and don't have a guilty conscious because you ARE RIGHT and that lady was just mad because she knew she was wrong.

shes stupid you are right, everyone knows that if you think you may buy something then you keep hold of it. if its on the rail then some one else is perfectly entitled to pick it up

sounds like you had the jacket...take the jacket and walk to the cashier and buy it...if she was not so smart to give up the jacket then you would have to bust out some sick-a*s kung-fu moves and take it from here fat fingers!

What was her problem then if she didn't want it? She was obviously just looking for a row. I would have told her to go and get some help.
