They are 2 such different news items. But is is sad when the volcano takes precedent as a news item over the war and horrors being visited on the people of Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan. The fascination of land building by volcanic activity is hard to ignore. The horrors of war and death are difficult to see and hear about every day and for our own psychological protection we have to numb ourselves to it and the distraction of other spectacular things like volcanoes is probably good. But we should never forget that the horrors of war are still happening and urge the worlds' religious and political leaders to find better ways to resolve disagreements and disputes.
