The only thing about recycling like this that really bothers me is this. You PAY for the trash company to pick up your trash. Now they want you to separate recyclable items for them so they can sell those items and make even more money, without doing any of the work! If these companies are so gung-ho to recycle news paper, aluminum, plastic and glass, why don't THEY separate the recyclables? Don't get me wrong, I have no problem recycling. It's environmentally sound, I just don't see why I should do all of the work while someone else makes all of the money. That's why I take the initiative to do my own recycling. The little extra money doesn't hurt either.

Absolutely not! Then we would be going towards a more communist society. We live in America with the freedoms to chose. We already have certain areas where you separate the plastic, cardboard, and the trash. We don't need the government giving us color coded trash bags!!

Do you have any idea how small Belgium is? Do you really think that would work in a country of our immense size? Think about how much money it would cost, there are parts of the country that don't have a recycling plant anywhere near them. Its not practical.

I think so, and that would force people to do the right thing.
It is really sad that it takes laws like that to make people do the right thing...
Did you know that in france there are "grammar police" who write people tickets (natives) for using english words with their french. It is supposed to help presserve the language.
About what the other guy said above me- this idea would create more jobs- which in this area would be great!!

they could make like where if you do participate in the program you get rewarded with tax breaks and other such things. No punishment if you don't particiapte, that way you could CHOOSE to or not to recycle.

That is not practical for our rural area. We do not have pick-ups for our recycling, only for trash. We have to take our recycling to 2 different dropoff points in town. Other than that, I think it is great idea.

SWEET! That is really a good idea. I doubt I'm going to see that in my neighbourhood soon, considering I live in Africa. If someone ever brings this idea here I'm all for it.
