I need this for school.

So far I have,
No one likes to be conquered.
Countries do not like foreigners occupying their country, no matter how justified the invaders may be.
Evil in human nature, reaction of a conquered people.
The free will of people cannot be suppressed.

You pretty much have it there. Steinbeck's novel was passed around the resistance movement to improve moral. The novel is about the inherant nature of freedom being part of the psyche of all human beings. It's about feeling impotent in the face of force, but communities then banding together to resist the occupation. It reinforces the idea that where men are "united" they are stronger - mentally and spiritually. The novel forces the reader to re-evaluate humanity and justice.
