i know they have those things that you smoke...but what exactly do they smoke there? and do they also serve food there??

From what I've seen a Hookah bar is just as you stated it a Bar! The people that visit this type of establishment sit around smoking fruit infused, and herb infused tabacco in a Hookah, and theres ussually appetizers available, as well as Dancing (Belly Dancing of course), and there are some that serve meals in a seperate section of the establishment. It's patterened after the hookah bars in the middle east and here in the U.S. especially after the hash bars in Asterdam.
You buy different samplers of fine tobaccos and smoke it in a hooka pipe. Most places here offer a list of cappacinnos and expressos, as well as food and fine pastries.
Some also offer music, or big screen t.v.'s, poetry reading, open stage performances, etc.. It's turned from eclectic to a high dollar trend, because you can dump a ton of money on specialty tobaccos.

It's an Arabic and Turkish tradition using a water pipe and flavored tobacco. It nice to clear your lungs with. It also is called sisha at some places, which is in fact the same.
They have great local, traditional dishes often.
