These are two distinct tributaries of the Nile (the longest river in Africa & one of the two longest rivers in the world). The White Nile is the longer of the two. The White Nile rises in the Great Lakes region of central Africa, with the most distant source in southern Rwanda and flows north from there through Tanzania, Lake Victoria, Uganda and southern Sudan, while the Blue Nile start in Ethiopia (Lake Tana) and flows into Sudan from the east. The two sections of the Nile then meet near Khartoum.
