So you were only arrested? Being arrested or having any contact with law enforcement gets your name in the big FBI computers and there's nothing you can do to get that removed.

If you were convicted of a crime, then you can get it expunged if you can show compelling reasons to why you deserve to get it expunged. You need it to get a job, you have been an excellent citizen, it has been a long time since the crime occured, and other compelling reasons you can think of.

Getting your record expunged also depends if it was a misdemeanor or a felony. Misdemeanor are more likely to be expunged then felony.

Another avenue you can take if you can't get it expunged is to see if the governor of your state will pardon you. You should also write to GW Bush to see if he'll pardon you before he leaves office.

Talk with a Lawyer. The easy way out would be to move to another country :) you can start fresh

You need to write to the court and ask them for confirmation or proof that they have removed the offense.
