Not all pathogenic diseases can be cured. Those caused by the malaria parasite can be controlled but not totally cured. HIV is another one that can be controlled but not cured. Influenza which is caused by a variety of viruses can be cured due to the bodies accumulation of antibodies and memory cells to keep those infectious strains at bay. First of all you would have isolate the contaminated person or persons. Keep a sterile environment at all times. Wash your hands before touching your face. Administer aspirin or Tylenol for fever control, and if it's a bacterial infection administer the proper antibiotic. If its viral hope the body fights it off with its immune system.

I don't often answer questions that lovely green eyes has answered, because she usually gives good answers and beats me out in the voting. In this case, I think there is a completely different way of looking at the question, so I'll give it a shot. Cancer is broadly caused by the loss of a cells ability to properly regulate its growth. To become cancerous takes many steps as the cell transitions from a quiet, well behaved tissue component to something that will destroy the whole organism. LGE's answer takes the point of view that this transition can be driven by the stimulatory hormones of the immune system = the cytokines involved in activation of the immune system are able to drive other cells into a cancerous state. As she mentions, this is not yet resolved. (BTW: the thumb down is not from me :-) I think you may be asking about a totally different thing though. It is well accepted that the immune system scans the body for cells that have gone awry. If a cell is displaying the wrong markers on its surface, the immune system kills that cell. This is a defense against both viral infections (cells are killed when they display viral proteins) and cancer (cells are killed when they display the wrong 'self' proteins). Meanwhile, autoimmunity is usually defined as an inappropriate attack by the immune system its own body. However, as I see it, cancer prevention by your body under normal circumstances relies on a type of autoimmunity: the immune system is recognizing when cells have started to become cancerous and it kills them. So, when you see references to carcinogenesis being an autoimmune phenomenon, I think they might actually be referring to a failure of this normal autoimmune function: not an 'autoimmune disease', but an 'autoimmune failure'. Make sense?

Certain pathogenic diseases can be prevented and controlled by vaccines, medicines, personal hygienic habits such as healthy eating, body cleanliness and a safe clean environment eg measles, gastroenteritis, ring worm, malaria and so on can be prevented by this method. Also the human body has a natural immune defense system as a way of treating such diseases it fights against such diseases such as producing antibodies to fight against pathogens. But unfortunately not all pathogenic diseases can be cured by this way eg AIDS and HIV which is caused by a virus which is aimed to weaken the immune system of its host but however the virus can be controlled by informing the public about ways of abstaining from intercourse, promoting the use of protections during the act of intercourse and taking anti viral agents prescribed by your doctor if you have caught the disease. But there are other precautions and ways of controlling the pathogenic diseases since the pathogenic diseases are caused by its original host the pathogens (parasitic organism) then if we kill or limit the growth, life and reproduction cycle of such pathogens eg mosquitoes which cause malaria and dengue and houseflies which may not seem dangerous but transmits multiple diseases which could seriously harm people then we can control not only the pathogen but its numerous diseases which they transmit.Theses ways include getting rid of mosquito breeding sites, disposing of decays, waste materials such as garbages, faeces and dead animals which flies and worms feed on also for personal precaution cover your food against such harmful pathogens.

In the treatment of a disease, you have two options. You can address the symptoms of the disease or the cause. If the cause of the disease is a bacterial infection, then steps can be made to address the bacteria. A bactericide or changing the environment so the bacteria is less hearty. We could conduct experiments to find plants that are more bacteria resistant. Artificial selection or gene manipulation. The possibility of finding a natural predator for the bacteria, a bacteria phage, (virus) might be used as a natural biocide.
This is about all I can come up with off the top of my head.
