Its only for a friendly match. The england coach wants to go through a youth movement and bring in the best young players. Beckham is 31 and by the next world cup will be 35. Who knows how good will he be by then? I think he still has a chance to make the team tho.

England national team selected by new coach Steve McClaren on 11 August, 2006. McClaren claimed that he was "looking to go in a different direction" with the team, and that Beckham "wasn't included within that". Although McClaren claimed Beckham could be recalled in future, most now believe his international career is over, after 94 caps. Shaun Wright-Phillips, Kieran Richardson and the World Cup alternative to Beckham Aaron Lennon were all included, and are likely to compete for what was Beckham's place on the right-wing in future.

Guys old. Won't be around for 2010 so he should have done the retirement thing from international football anyway. Thats what the USA players that will be too old in 2010 have been doing. Even for 2008 Euros I would hope you have some new young blood that can step in and make it happen.

yea, thats cause becks sucks..he holds the england squad down in the way. I bet lennon, his replacement, does a better job because becks relied on too many long balls and lacked quality touches
