Best things to list are stuff you family back in India buy for you.

You will have lots of competition. I read an article about the very few millionaires who are power sellers. It can be done, but it's a way of life (and I don't mean in the Amway sense).

You should stick to more expensive stuff because that's where the profit is. But you can't do that (nobody will trust you with big bucks) until you have lots of feedback. So:

-- Start out part time prepared to sell for little profit, just to show buyers that you are reliable, and get 1000+ positive feedbacks. Don't give anybody reason to give you bad feedback. COMMUNICATE!

-- Learn the ropes with PayPal so you don't get ripped off. They refund money to complainers after 10 days, and then the seller is stuck.

-- If you don't get tracking numbers for shipments, then you have to take the buyer's word for it that it didn't come, and they lie.

There's a lot of stuff online and in the newspapers. Start with your public library. You don't have to pay for a course.

Watch out for sales tax traps. You may have to register in your own state, but probably not in others.

You need a product that you have a purchasing advantage over everyone else. Ebay sales are price driven. There is no other advantage anyone has. If you can buy it cheaper, you can sell it cheaper. I had a business on ebay that sold over $400,000 in 2002, we only made about $20,000 off that because our competition kept driving down the price. Be careful, Ebay is not an easy way to make a living.

Take time, surf eBay, with what you want to sell. See if you item will sell, compared to the same items by others on eBay. eBay, has everything and anything. You can make money on eBay, you can also looses, as they do charge to list your item to sell, and if it sells, they charge a sellers fee. Read all you can, on the eBay web site

Go to garage sales, estate sales, clearance sales, look in your local classified ads and buy all of it. Put it on Ebay so the whole world has the possibility of bidding and buying it as opposed to just those that live close to those items. Or you could go to used car lots and ask to help them (for a fee) to put their cars on Ebay.
