An easy way to determine if it's belt noise, while it's running spray a little water on the belt.
If it stops making noise, it's the belt.
If it doesn't it's the bearing in the alternator.

Make sure your Alt. belt is tight.Take some PB Blaster or a light oil and get some into the bearings front and rear.

check the belt first if its nice and tight and in good shape it could be the alternator bearings

disconect fan belt to make sure it is the alternater,if it is then dont muck around with it and get it too a shop(kinda like if you broke a guitar string)

the bearings in the belt pully could be freezing up. or you need a new belt. or just simply tighten your old one.
