I love deep dish pizza but whenever I go to Chicago and ask someone for a recommendation for authentic Chicago style pizza, no one knows of one! I have had pizzaria uno and liked it.

Now I am vacationing outside Chicago on the East coast and had a pizza last night. It was a terrible imitation of a Domino pizza. How can they call those wet doughballs a pizza. I can't wait to get back home to Chicago for a real pie.

There are a few bad places for pizza in Chicago but not many. Uno is a favorite of mine. Go early to avoid the long line. Sit at the bar for faster service. A block away is Due...same pie. Lou Malnati's and Connie's are small chains with a few locations scattered about. Both have thin, thick and deep dish styles.

Gino's East has 3 locations on the North side. Check phone book for addresses. Same goes for My Pie. This place uses the math symbol for pie. I can't make it in this keyboard.

Forget asking a hotel or cab driver. I would ask a cop. or even better a fireman. They've been working in the neighborhood you are in and know all the restaurants.

I live in Florida but I am from Chicago.
Uno sucks by the way, so does Giordano's.
Here is my list for Chicago pizza, keep in mind that probably 90% of Chicago pizza is thin crust, but for Chicago deep dish here ya go:

1. Connie's
2. Gino's East
3. Lou Malnatti's
4. Art of Pizza
5. Nancy's

I'm partial to Lou Malnati's because I lived most of my life near the original restaurant in Lincolnwood. BTW, you can have their deep dish pizzas shipped frozen anywhere in the US.

I also love Gino's East. Just read that they reopened the original one in Streeterville, next to Northwestern Memorial. Obviously need to rebuild the grafitti there.

Uno's is the original, it's OK, and it's all over the US, even in Boston. Props also to Connie's, Giordano's, and Rosati's. Because I don't think there's such a thing as a bad Chicago deep dish.
