foxes ARE predominantly nocturnal, for hunting but will come out during daylight to sleep in the sun, play, just be a fox,we live in a very rural area, there are so many fox families living on our road, one has to be careful not to hit a fox when driving,i have two dens on my 20 acre property i watch them play during the day all the time

There are less and less places for the Fox to go, are there any new land development's around your area? This may cause the animal to be out all hours.

I think they're mostly nocturnal due to their wiliness and cunning and desire not to be shot by farmers etc. If they feel confident in a more sympathetic urban environment, they'll adapt and come out in the daytime.

It is unusual, but not surprising. Nature is forcing the wild to be a bit more brave about their surrondings. The more forests that are lost the more the wild have to try and find food.

this is normal behaviour for a fox, he must like your garden! although i would be careful if you have dogs or cats ect as they can get mange from a fox.

Urban foxes are becoming very integrated and less frightened by us humans. Watch and enjoy him but don't leave your back door open unattended. He/she may become just that little too curious and venture indoors.

yes they are mainly a nocturnal animal, and there must be a food source in or near your garden, mice, rats ect.

If you want your furry friend to be a regular visitor, buy catfood for him, and leave a drink of fresh water out each day-- he will love you forever.
