When someone loves you, you will be able to tell. If you cant' tell, it's not there yet. Be careful though because some guys say that they love you just so that you can go towards the next step.

this would depend on your age. when a mature male tells you that he loves you; you would look for some of these things. does he offer help to you when you need it? does he worry about you and your safety? is he honest and loyal to you and the relationship? will he sacrifice something he wants or wants to do in order to make you happy? if you answer yes to these questions, then he probablly does love you. if you answer sometimes, he has some growing up to do. if you answer no to these questions-he doesn't love you.
