Creationists are always saying that nothing in the universe is possible without a creator. Well then who created the creator? By creationist standards, if your answer is he created himself, then he doesn't exist because there would at somepoint have to have been someone who was no created. And if there was someone who was simply not created, but created himself, why would it be so hard to believe that life just occured?

Don't quote someone else, don't use faith as an excuse, come up with your own, thought out answer. Try at least to be creative.

To keep in mind: I am an atheist, I support everyone's right to believe what they want. I don't want anyone telling me 'what I am or what I belive' if you have never met me.

Oh no, now you got them angry and confused. You know they can't think. So why do you insist on instigating them?

There is a fundamental difference between the life that is supposed to have spontaneously occurred and God. Even if we just go by dictionary definitions, we can't compare simple one-celled organisms and the Supreme Spiritual Being. Sure it's a possibility that the one-celled organism just occurred by chance combinations of chemicals, but its a lot less likely that the Supreme Being came into being that way.

Of course if we don't accept the existence of the Supreme Being, then we're left with coming up with other theories about the origin of living beings on this planet. What is interesting though is that this theory has yet to be proven. If life has come from inorganic and organic chemicals, then why has this theory not been proven in the laboratory-- a created living, breathing, evolving life form? And what's more, why don't we find such organisms spontaneously coming into being now?

Yes, it's not within our experience that someone or something has no origin. But it's much more likely this would apply to the Supreme Being rather than a simple living being we are familiar with and whom we understand a little.

They claim that God the uncaused cause, meaning that God does not need a creator, even himself.

However, a good point I have heard is that...why does the universe need a creator then? can't the universe be an uncaused cause also? This does not mean however that the universe is the new "god" but it simply points out that creationists do not have evidence to prove that there is a God and its just as easy to come up with a different conclusion with the same logic.

Maybe the Universe started as empty space with only quantum ribbles (which will always exist: literally empty space is an impossibility), creating small bubles of positive energy, balanced by small amounts of negative bubles elsewhere. Due to an incredible coincidence, a lot of positive bubbles where suddenly found in one part of the Universe, causing a gravity collapse which caused an explosion that we see as the Big Bang. "God" is just a metaphor for this incredible coincidence that created the Big Bang.

An alternative theory holds that there is a super-universe in which advanced species such as angles, saints, elfs and gods evolved from dinosaur because they happened not to get hit by a meteor. In science class, the young gods learn to create small toy universes. One of those young gods created the universe we know as ours. Actually, the teacher was most satisfied with the creator of our universe and gave her an A.

You are limited by human thinking. Creationism always assumes that every effect must have a cause, that the sound of a tree crashing down in a forest must be caused by a falling tree. What if it fell in the middle of the night and no one was around to hear it? Would there still be a sound?

All I know is that the world exists right now. I don't know whether everything I remember about the past is just a dream.

Isn't it great being sentient? We spend so much time thinking about why we are here. My cats don't need to worry about that.

John 1: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Asking where God came from is as meaningless as asking about what happened in the universe BEFORE the Big Bang.

as human nature, we always try and think of some explanation for everyphenomenon we see.
each and every aspect has to be explained and it does have a logical explanation.
we just dont know it unless we try to find it out.
earlier, man used to be amazed by fire and used to call it God.
and so he had all different types of Gods,....... the wind God, the sun God, Moon God and so on and so forth......
later as the thinking capacity grew, man began to find out answers to his questions and started doubting his own created "God"s
now he knows that lightening is not the wrath of GOd but just some electricity produced due to a difference in potential between two points................
now he knows that fire as he see it, is just the emmitance of photons from a combustible source where electros are continuously getting in and out of the excited state, releasing photons and heat energy, and in the process, changing the molecular formula of the substance being burnt and releasing basic molecules like CO2 and H2O etc....
so, if we try and think about it, God is not a creator, nor created.
we dont know how this earth and all life on it originated.
but yes, we do know that when we dont know how something is done, we relate it as an act of a superior being who knows more than we do,{ he can be hypothetical}, until we find out how to do it, or the reasons for its occurence.
hence God came into existence to simplify things for those who do not think much.
and as far as the question, "who brought Him into existence?" is concerned, then its us ( or our ancestors to be precise). our own minds, and nothing else.
i may sound like an atheist to you, but this is the only logical explanation i could figure out after twelve years of wondering and experience, other than the one that He created Himself, which you yourself seem to disagree with.

When you say "come from," you, along with the creationists, are automatically coming from the "bias & incomplete knowledge" of material science or the younger-less complex, less sophisticated "newtonian physics." There are MANY more layers of deeper and deeper sciences that most humans at this era during this horrible depraved state of human ignorance and education-not can not get to. However, why is it that we want to use the laws of human derived scientific theories to explain spirit, spirituality, eternality and divinity, when we have already been given God-sent Vedic sciences in scriptural form that help explain all these vast spiritual scientific laws for us sleeping humans.

Contemporary biologists have said for a long time that the theory of "spontaneous generation" is NOT true. (Life does not just pop into existence out of no-where), that all life comes from pre-existing life, yes! But what if our DEFINITION OF "LIFE" is WRONG!!! What if LIFE is THE DIVINE spiritual force within each pile of DEAD atoms-matter? Biology works because of the divine spark within it. The laws of chemistry and physics work due to the divine sparks within atoms!

According to the ancient Vedic sciences, "God, Divinity,The Creator" exists not only within each living entity in this material cosmos, and within each atom of material nature (and enlivens it) but so does the souls spark of that living entity. Thus all "life forms," from the smallest prions & bacteria to the largest trees and the most complex mammals (Homo sapiens) are parts and parcels of Divinity (spirit souls) and come from and are part of His Cosmic Manifestation. Our true identity is that of "eternal soul spark and servant of the creator" while we ride within in this huge temporary cosmic computer, within a temporary vehicle called a "body-personality" until we figure out who we really are, why we really are here within this cosmic computer and how to get out of this mess of matter and these very challenging and rigid laws of material nature. When we are tired of playing in-with this dead matter, trying to control it and enjoy it and failing miserably at doing all that, then we finally want to return to our LIVE eternal spiritual nature and Home to give Him constant glory and devotional service. Then we will gradually begin the long inward journey of finding out the difference between:

1. the laws of material nature and the laws of spiritual nature
2. what is the difference between temporary and eternal
3. what is the difference between truth and illusion or ignorance....

Most humans on this planet are not even able to dabble in math and science at the middle school level or high school level, what then of the college and university realms of even newtonian physics, quantum physics (or deeper yet) and thus are not able to fathom other deeper laws of physics that might eventually help explain God, Creaton, etc. It takes a deeply sincere and motivated spiritualist & scientist (along with the mercy of the Lord) to get to those answers and realms. We humans are largely too simple, lazy, addicted to matter and too ignorant, plus our senses for studying and exploring these realms of spiritual-science are too weak and corrupted with our own self interests. God is not so cheap that He makes Himself and His Mysteries known to anyone who is just searching for name, fame or some sense gratification for his curiosity. He lets those who are genuinely interested in Him come to know, love, remember and serve Him GRADUALLY.

When we are dealing with "matter and the laws of matter, physics and atoms" we have these kinds of simplified beliefs and thinking. This world and these laws of matter based in simpler newtonian physics are based on a temporary reality within time, and thus all this energy and matter just keeps getting converted from one form to the next. One error in this thinking is in placing God under the same laws of matter and material nature when His realm is the realm of ANTIMATTER or Eternal Spirit where the laws of newtonian physics do not apply.

The Vedic Sciences are the deepest sciences on this planet and they explain this science of spirituality, God, creation and cosmology very deeply. Our simplified ignorant thinking and our disinterest in spirit-devotion all contribute to us not being able to understand these things, however. A great scientist who reads this may not be able to understand it due to his sharp intellect! As we are more willing to cooperate with His Higher Mysteries and Laws, then He gives us more ability to dive into these deeper realms of spirituality-science and to understand it and Him some. But once we get to know Him a little, our prior cravings for material and spiritual scientific knowledge about the cosmos and Him start to fade, and then our ONLY desire is to just know, love and serve Him intimately. Devotional service (bhakti yoga) becomes most paramount and MORE than urgent and important to us. We become junkies to serve Him and love Him. Material beauty is not even important to us anymore, since He lets us know and see that spiritual beauty is HIGHEST.

WHY WERE WE SO SELFISH AND SUCH FOOLS? WHY DID WE EVER LEAVE HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE? So, we are all here knowing on some level that we really did lose paradise and we will at some time be READY, WILLING and ABLE to try to remember how to regain paradise with Him again.
