I'm trying to play starcraft online and it says ur internet connection might be poor or your system doesn't support UDP packets. I know I have high speed internet so maybe it has something to do with the UDP packet. I have no idea what it is... thanks

UDP---User Datagram Protocol for transmitting audio data. Firewalls can b lock UDP traffic. If you are not able to receive UDP packets you will not be able to get sound in certain programs or games which need UDP packets. Check your firewall logs and see if it is blocking this traffic and if so create a rule that permits it to pass. You can configure the firewall to allow UDP packets for this game. You may need to contact the manufacturer to get the ports used and then go into your firewall and set it up. If using a firewall in a router you will need to go into the configuration page in the browser and make settings for the routers firewall. Mine has a drop down list for many of the most popular games and programs so I only need to select it and the proper ports are listed automatically. If it is not listed I have to do it manually. I strongly suggest you close the ports when you are not using the game as you don't want more ports open than needed. It puts "holes" in your firewall which creates an unsafe enviroment. So, just enable while playing and disable when done.

If the firewall is not blocking these packets, it may be tht the UDP packets are being dropped. If you are pushing the bandwidth limits of your coonnection, audio data disappears in favor of accuraate transfer of images adn ohter data. YOu can make more room in the pope by lowering the number of colors, for example to 256.

Hope this helps good luck and have a nice day.

UDP is a protocol the internet uses, it's an unreliable protocol, which means it doesn't care whether the packet reaches you or not. it's a connectionless protocol.
