It is important to keep the house clean. I don't know what the situation is with her...kids? and so on. I clean my house, but I also have 2 young boys who suddenly turn into tornadoes and go behind me and mess everything up. I have two dogs who think their hair is for making clothes...therefore they shed all over the place. I have a husband that gripes about the house and at the same time will leave his clothes in the middle of the living room floor, his shoes in the kitchen and when he is finished eating instead of throwing his napkin away he throws it in the sink. When he shaves....does he clean the sink afterward? NO!! So here I am working over time to keep up my little monkeys and have absolutely no time for me!! And I also get b!tched at for not having the house spotless from my husband and my mother in law. How ever...I have set up a schedule so that I can get things done daily and not feel that I'm killing myself I have also got after my family members to put their stuff away and keep it away. I may have become a nag but you know what they've asked for that. There are chores that can be done daily and then there are some that are done once or twice a week. There are things that can be done once a month. I have to say....if you happen to mention it to her...which I have a feeling you will Tell her that it made my life a little easier to keep the schedule up.

Does it bother your son? Does he help her around the house? It sounds like she's either very lazy or very busy. Either way, it's really none of your business. For the most part, younger people today have very different values and priorities than older generations. Your son married this woman (hopefully) knowing everything about her and where her priorities lie. You can't control everything in your son's life. He's married and doesn't need your help with issues with his wife. He might complain to you and ask for help, but it is only your place to listen and offer him advice (and only if that advice is asked for). If you interfere, you will be putting your son in an uncomfortable position by upsetting your daughter-in-law. Don't make your son choose between you and his wife. If you do, you may not like his decision.

That's a tough one. I keep an immaculate home and I don't understand why some people can't even keep it basically clean. Try helping her one day so she can see what can be accomplished. Explain how much easier it become if you put it away right away, clean up the kitchen after each meal, set days to do certain chores.
