unlikely, the strategic value is purely too intense. there is also the actual incontrovertible reality that Israel relies upon upon the aspects of the Jordan contained in the Golan Heights for its ingesting Water. at the same time as they captured the heights they stumbled on the progression of a canal bearing in ideas just about all aspects of the Jordan which could have rendered each and every of the water undrinkable because it ought to were diverted South of Lake Galilee (Yam Kinneret).

Israel has held on to various areas since the 67 war simply as a defensive measure. They want secure borders and until the people of the Middle East realise that none can have security. The Middle East as a region could have a secure economic future to the benefit of all their people but that can only come with peace.

The problem is that returning land to terrorists means that this will make no difference. The Hezbull killer machine wants to Kill and destroy ALL of Israel. So your question is very simple to answer. Real peace will only come when the Hizbull killers are put back on land with cells round them. The fight is not over land. Killers do not want land. They want adoration and power. Why did they not simply return 2 soldiers when asked and avoided all this. All these deaths because of the Hizbull killing machine in its pursuit of glory. So sad.

Arabs want to destroy Israel. First they up this then they give up more. Appeasement will not buy peace and Israel will not commit suicide, like you suggest. They pulled out of Gaza and have been suffering from rocket fire every day since. They pulled out of Lebanon and Hizbullah spent 6 years digging bunkers and tunnels, collecting rockets and invaded Israel killed 8 soldiers and kidnapped 2.
And you suggest that things will get better if Israel gives up yet more land.
Forget it.

That's only a small part of it - following the 6 day war in 1967, Israel has occupied a great deal of Arab territory and to date has not given it back, in fact they have built towns on some of this occupied land. All this, despite U.N. Resolutions stretching back to just after the end of that war that insisted Israel return to the borders that existed prior to the start of that war.
We (the UK) went to war against Iraq in 2003, because it was said, Saddam Hussain was in breach of UN resolutions. On that basis, both the US and UK governments should have declared war against Israel in 1968/69. Question is, why haven't we???

The Israelis have tried to live in peace with their neighbors - and for those efforts, they 've been "thanked" with the 6 Day War, the 1973 War, and various other incursions. They've earned their territory in blood from enemies determined to wipe them off the face of the Earth, and any conncessions they've made have been 'rewarded' with things such as the recent conflict.

The countries and problems that you had mentioned will not come to them due to their perfect bondage and excellent planning. They love peace and it will be in their land only. In other places they love to see the fun of fighting, between the countries and priciples, due to several man made calamities. Their survival is based on the third world's disunity.

There's your key word: "maybe". Let me illustrate with a story about Israel's concern for security
In the early 1970s US Secertary of State William Rogers had a "peace plan" for Israel and went to speak with Golda Meir. It meant giving up cetain areas of land to faciolitate the process
Mrs. Meir greeted Secertary Rogers and said she would speak with him in a moment. She asked him over to her window and pointed to a school yard where children were playing
The secretary remarked on the lovely children. Then she pointed to the hills surrounding them. He remarked on how lovely they were.
She then said those school children used to live underground because enemy soldiers in those hills were shooting down at them. Those children are not going to have to live undergraound again.
She turned to the Secretary to ask what it was he came to see her about.

the issue in the middle east is more complex than returning lands or prisoners. Israel has always been willing to return lands and others when they are negotiated for. returning lands will not bring peace to Israel in the middle east. its about the people (jews) and islams hatred of them. even if they give back all their ancestral lands, the war and hatred will onot end. read the account of Ishmael and Isaac in the Bible. thats where the answer is.
