Although no official retirement was announced. Nobody wanted to pay what he was wanting. He was wanting a mass amount for the 15 homers he might achieve. His batting average was terrible towards the end and his defense was pityful. It was really a case of no one wanting him.

The steroids are a moot point. For whatever reason, Sammy can't
hit any longer. His .221 average and 14 HRs and 45 RBIs (in 102 games) in 2005 mean that he is not productive enough to be a Major Leaguer.
Interesting to compare Sosa's 2005 to Mickey Mantle's last year in 1968. The Mick was also 36 years old and the stats are remarkably similar (.237/18 HRs/54 RBIs in 144 games). Great baseball players skill levels often fall off a cliff when they hit their mid 30's. (Most not so great players lose their skills earlier.)

he turned down a offer from the nationals: The Chicago Sun-Times reports OF Sammy Sosa told a Korean newspaper that he's not retired and might play next season. The paper said Sosa "became angry and taciturn" when he was asked if he used steroids in 1998 during his home-run chase. His agent also stated he was not happy with his performance.

Sammy Soso retired because he's an old man. I don't doubt that the steroids aged him prematurely, but a lot of players got scared about the steroid flap. Larry Walker and Mark McGuire are also gone but they were all in their mid thirties. That's old in baseball years.

a million. No, his huge style could no longer be retired, maximum of his abode runs got here as a effect of steroid use. in case you do not imagine steroids help you hit abode runs, then please answer why abode run totals rose so intense in the course of the steroid era and then fell off so sharply at the same time as the league began more effective thorough finding out. 2. I hate the WWE. yet I do sense baseball is unfairly singled out for steroid use, the NFL also must be roundly condemned for it. 3. merely because it would not say "do not do steroids" does no longer advise its acceptable. there is not any regulation that announces you should comprehend your mom - yet maximum persons comprehend our moms and condemn those who do not. that's the version between a rule and a more effective. 4. i have stated because he replaced into elected that Gaylord Perry could no longer be contained in the corridor. yet merely because the corridor made blunders contained in the previous is not any justification for persevering with those blunders. short and easy - Sosa cheated and lied to us all about. Flintstones, my ***. the cost to be paid for that is no longer having his huge style retired and being personality non grata in Chicago. And that total creepy white epidermis ingredient has further eroded any credibility Sosa would have once had and became him right into a laughingstock.

Because HGH makes your head grow and finally, Sammy's head got so big that they couldn't make a helmet for him anymore. Seriously, they were going to use a beer bat adn put in ear hole in the side, but Sam Adams uses a lot of vats and they didn't know how to paint it the Orioles colors....

Sammy has not officially retired. He is "looking for the right team", for the right contract of course.
