My husband, whom I love with all my heart, just had a heart attack wednesday. He came home from the hospital on all kinds of new meds and orders to change his life style and follow up appointments with the cardiologist. The problem is he is not suppose to be under any added stress and now I have juevenille officers contacting me over an incident of his son being abusive to my daughter while here this summer. I know he needs to know but I am scared to tell him afraid it will send him back to the hospital or worse. I can't talk to his family as they feel everything that has happened with his kids is my fault and my kids. How should I tell him this is going on. The juvenille officer didn't come by until after he was in the hospital and then last night when I got home had a note in the door from her to call her first thing Monday and she wants us both there. My husband knows what had happened just not that the authorities are now involved

My daughter is protected and his son is back with his mother half a state away. We thought this was all settled when the kid went back and got into a counceling program

If he knows about the incident, it will probably be a relief for him to know that HE and YOU do not have to deal with the aftermath alone. The authorities will deal with the perpetrator and you can deal with family matters. T'would be a relief to me to have that burden lifted.

The truth is you need to take two deep breaths before you start. Speak slowly and clearly so you don't have to repeat it. "We have a problem. I have received a notice to appear on Monday. They want us both to be there. If you are not able to go at this time, I will call the officer and reschedule for a later date when you are recovered fully from your heart attack. If you feel up to going now, I would just as soon get this over with now."

You need to stop this little thug and protect your daughter. If it has gotten to the point that law officers are involved, he needs to know. Do it NOW. I think the stress of knowing you are keeping this from him would be more troubling than the officers being there.

I would call the doctor first and explain the situation and the doctor would be able to advise you better on how to tell your husband.

Make sure he is calm and relaxed and tell him as gently as possible. You need to tell him and the longer you put it off, the more things you will have to tell him all at once.
