People only react to how they are treated. I would say Americans are just simply watching their backs. After all we are a walking target. Acting a little on the stuck-up side might just keep us alive. We do pick our friends and I know I do. Anything you tell anyone will be used against you at some point no matter what it is you say.

The statement of "Them people over there are making too much noise and I can't sleep" normally means there is too much noise and you can't sleep. But being you said "Them" to a lot of people means you are pointing out a select group of people such as young people or blacks or any other group. It is normally true that old people have a hard time living close to younger people no matter of color but in that case it will be the old white people don't like the black people.

So it is we are not stuck up you just don't like how we live our life's or we will not let you into our world. If you was able to change to the way we are then you would be one of us and everyone would call you stuck up.

Did I make my point clear of did I just waste your and my time? Or did you feel by my attempt explain as trying to rise above you?

I'm an American. I'm not stuck up. Nor am I a freak! I've been on here for almost 5 months and I find most people to be quite pleasant. Then I run across someone like you and I'm tempted to get upset. Then God reminds me that I'm supposed to love everyone, even my enemies, even if you're rude. So, I have to say I feel sorry for you that you are so bitter and cynical. I pray life will treat you better in the future. God Bless!

I'm British and not anti-American but I really take offence at the fact that everytime anyone slags off America, then Americans start accusing them of being "jealous".

I'm sorry but I don't see what the US has that we should be jealous of.

For one thing all Americans seem desperate for some culture and heritage - the mere fact they are always referring to themselves as "Oh I'm Swedish/German/Irish/Italian descent blah blah" suggest to me they desperately need some identification withwhere their ancestors came from. I love living in a country (Wales) which has 10,000's of years of history and knowing that I am living in my ancestral homelands! It must suck to feel so detached from your roots.

As for the "freedom" you harp on (and ON and on about) well we have "freedom" over here too! We live in a democracy! Our lives are really no different to yours. Do you think we still have feudal "Lords of the Manor" bossing us around??? Get Real! Its 2006 not 1506!!! The only people who boss us around are bureaucrats exactly the same as in America!

Yeah we have a Royal Family - so what - you have a useless (and much hated) President! Having a Royal Family makes no difference to your everyday life you know!

We're not all medieval peasants and serfs. America might have represented "freedom for the oppressed masses" when it was founded 100s of years ago but Europe has changed and we don't live any differently to you today.

In fact we have many advantages you don't. In the UK we don't have to PAY for medical treatment (something which I think is barbaric that you have to do in America - medical treatment when sick is a basic human right not some sort of "price-is-right luxury!). What do you do if you can't afford to the pay the doctor? Die?! You wouldn't expect that from a third world country!

This is not meant to be an anti-American rant but just a reaction to "oh its jealousy" that gets trotted out everytime anyone has a go at the Americans. You have to get over this idea that you are so much better than everyone else and we are all "jealous" of you because its not only ludicrous and inaccurate, it does your popularity no favours!!!

Hmmm, stuck up American freaks.. well, it's much better to vent here than climb a tower or go blow up airplanes.
And then, of course, there are people who ask questions like this, which tend to tick off a lot of people, thereby 'justifying' the insulting question.
I'm sorry you feel that we are stuckup freaks, but, when you ask a question like this one, and there are a lot of other people asking the same type questions well, guess what? Sooner or later, somebody's going to go off on ya.
Of course, since that is what you expect, you get your gratification.
God bless and keep you.

You may be right... I am sure there are some stuck up Americans on here..right along with stuck up people from everywhere. I am an American and proud of it..but the country I live in does not make me who I am. The respect I have for myself and others make me who I am. I love all people no matter were they may be from.. Our race and our residence shouldn't be of importance... Why can't we all just get along... Hope you have a great week.. :)

Stuck up Americans? What would that make the Europeans then?
Here's your answer-

The British are too busy swilling tea.

The Irish are too busy drinking Guinness and singing drinking songs.

The French are too busy complaining about everything (they're certainly not too busy bathing).

The Germans are too busy hatching their next plot to take over the world.

The Spanish are having a siesta.

The Dutch are too busy making the best cheese, beer and chocolate in the world.

The Italians are too busy eating.

The Belgians are too busy trying to clean up their drinking water.

The Greeks are roasting a goat.

...And the Norse are too busy looking at porn.

I'm assuming you're European because your English is good. You didn't say, "why so stuck ups the american on this place?"
Don't get me started on the rest of the world. I don't have as much nice stuff to say about them. :O}

From an observational point, I would say there are a lot of FREAKS from everywhere, and not necessarily just America!

Obviously you are looking for abusive answers, well not from you, I would never sink that low, besides that's obviously your way of getting kicks!

I am a Brit. and very proud of it, but you make me feel ashamed and hope that the Americans don't judge us all by your low and sad standards.

Okay, I may be American, and I'll be the first to admit I'm abnormal, but I find offense at being referred to as "stuck up".
