Look for the pattern. This one is fairly simple. The next two numbers in the series would be 21, 12.

Reasoning: The series involves sets of three. The first number in each set is a multiple of 4, increasing by 4 each time. The second and third are simple consecutive counting, starting with 16.

Well the question you'd given is so easy... If you can't see a sequence try to make one by your self to solve it... :)

for an example the quesiton states 0, 16,17,4,18,19,8,20
for this example take the first 3 numbers of the sequence
( 0 ,16,17)

Break it down to 3 sets & write it like this

0 16 17
4 18 19
8 20 ?
? ? ?

Notice that first COLUMN relates by an addition of 4
Second one by addition of 2
Thrid one addition of 2

if you think this as a seperate set of numbers like given above the answer is simple. :) :)

youll see that if we denote the first 3 numbers like this f(a,b,c)
next set of numbers will be f(a+4,b+2,c+2)

So now the full answer can be written like this

f(a,b,c)
f(a+4,b+2,c+2)
f(a+8,b+4,c+4)
.....
...
..

0, 16, 17,
4, 18, 19,
8, 20, 21,
12, 22, 23,....

Since you already know it's a mixed sequence, therefore you can separate it into individual sequences to get a clearer view before putting them back together again. In your eg given, the 2 sequences are:
0,4,8,.....
16,17,18,19,20,....
It is quite self evident from here on.

0, 16, 17, 4, 18, 19, 8, 20
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next number would have to be 21 .....

0
16
17
4 ---> (0 + 4 = 4)
18 ---> (number after 17)
19 ---> (number after 18)
8 ---> (4 + 4 = 8)
20 ---> (number after 19)
21 ---> (number after 20)
12 ---> (8 + 4 = 12)
etc....
