try to lern some basic japanese phrases..

and you have to know something about the basic customs and rituals to not get in a cultural "shock" ;you have to know about "presents and gifts, and know about "honne & tatemae".

-japanese love to try them english.
-you can ask a jap to take a picture for you ,and it will be a nice way to get to know each other.

and please don't categorize the japs because they don't love someone who talked about them like talking about a special case.

and good luck dude!

Japan is "over 377,873 square kilometers", but it would be impossible to walk through it entirely seeing as it is composed of many islands as well and is not just one single landmass.

Plot your way on a map, get a comfortable pair of shoes and some extra thick socks and a big bottle of water and go for it.
