I am half iranian, half german. It is very odd, whenever, I tell them I am iranian, they behave abnormally and some even won't talk to me. This even happends when I try to get to know new people.
On the other hand, whenever, I mention that I am German, they are friendier.
I was raised in europe, and cannot understund why people behave like this!!!???

Iran is a country trying to scare everyone else into thinking there way or no way.when you say your Iranian then there's a negative thought that runs through there minds.
Why would you tell people your Iranian, aren't you an American or are you an Iranian.Make up your mind where your loyalty lies.Americans are a mixture of free people from all around the world, were American.Telling someone around here your an Iranian means a fight if not worse.your just trying to gain attention and you'll probably get it.

First of all, why do you feel the need to tell them?? Second of all, I wouldn't want someone as a friend or an aquaintance if they get turned turned off or start acting abnormally. People, and I do mean us Americans, need to look in our own closet as to where we came from. Our ancestors didn't all come from, I have ancestors that were on the Mayflower, along with a great grandfather who kissed the Blarney Stone to prove he was a true Irishman when he lived there. So, just be yourself, you are who you are, it's not whether you are Iranian/German, it shouldn't matter at all. People can act/behave strange sometimes, like I said they should look in their closet and did through their roots.
Just be who you are, love who you are, the true, good friends/people will come in time.

Don't take this personally. Look around you at what is going on. Iran has been designated as the bad guy at this point in time and if we wind up in World War III or having a nuclear meltdown it is going to be because of the efforts of the power mad politicians in Iran. Just mention your German half and forget the other half for now. Hopefully reason will prevail and the world will go on it's merry way to chaos.

People are scared of the unknown. Sadly most people know little about Iran, other than the conflicts we see on TV. Its not personal, just a sad fact of life. Why do you feel the need to tell people where you are from, it shouldn't really matter. If someone is turned off by this fact your Iranian then they are not really the sort of friends you are looking for. Find a more liberal and tolerant circle of people to mix in.

Well.. Maybe some people are not accumstomed or have never meant an iranian person. So they don't know what to expect, and they shy away. On the other hand, many people have a german backround, so they are used to that, and no what to expect.

Hope this helps!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that. I think it has something to do with the current events, with what's going on in the Middle East, and the involvement of Muslims in the attacks against the West. But let not this affect you. Go out and meet new people, whether they accept you or not, at least you tried to reach out to them, right?

Well good luck!

Well first you have to understand, people are scared of Irainans. We all have to understand that not everyone from Iran is with the terriosts. We are all cautious! I hope things go better for you. We are all on this earth to do good things and there are a few bad apples among us and they need to stopped. Hang in there!

If you told me that you lived far away from me it doesnt really matter where what matters is the distance between us. But people behaving like that are just shallow & don't repsect or understand diversity.

Hi T Rex,
I think 9/11 might have something to do with it. People are afraid and unsure. Surely, you don't get that reaction from everyone!?
