I had this as well. It happened as soon as my milk started coming in, and once my guy started eating lots it disappeared and I haven't had it since. If its not gone in a week, then I would get worried. My doctor just told me it was a blocked milk duct from my over abuncdance of milk and as soon as he starts eating it would correct itself...and it did... :) congrats on your newborn

i use to get mastitis BADLYwhen breastfeeding! the lumps were contained only in my breasts... BUT, they were not under my arm. i use to get lumps under my arm SOMETIMES before my period. i had it checked out by the doctor the first time. my lump was sore and seemed to have burning, stabbing pain. it was just a cyst. the doctor told me that if they are painful then there is NOTHING to worry about! sometimes they go away withing a couple of weeks, some times a month or so. EITHER WAY do have it checked out... those are glands!

more likely that it is a blocked milk duct, those are usually lumpy..
this might sound odd, but place the baby at next feeding so that baby's chin is pointed towards the lump (the best you can) and then they will help relieve the blockage. IF you get any redness, fever, or the lump really starts hurting, see your doctor ASAP!

It is engorgement. It could be caused by several things. You may have extra breast tissue there, including maybe an extra nipple. Applying cabbage leaves is usually the recommended treatment. Be sure to put the cabbage on the lumpy area only, as it can dry up the milk supply in your breasts as well as in this extra area. Use raw, green cabbage, either at room temperature or straight from the refrigerator, whichever feels better to you.

Sounds like a blocked duct....have the baby feed until the entire breast is empty. Or try to masage it out...press on it in a downward motion.

This isn't exclusive to breast-feeding, but if you any skin irritations or broken skin you can get an underarm lump because the gland swells. (Just another possibility)

My mom did when she had me. She had the lump removed and it was not cancerous, it was just tissue fluid. But i would see a doctor just to be safe
