How soon can you take a pregnancy test (if you have NOT missed your period yet), and could it be a home pregnancy test?

It depends on the test taken and the pregnancy. There is so many tests out there that read different levels of HCG. HCG is the hormone that home pregnancy tests picks up. It starts to present in the body when the egg implants itself in the uterine wall. Some eggs take longer to do this than others.

There is lots of charts on line that tell you how sensitive certain tests are. Here is one http://www.babyhopes.com/pregnancy-test-sensitivity.html
the most sensitive ones can only be bought on-line. You would be better off to get the 25 mIU ones. That is a very low level of HCG that they can detect.

Testing one week BEFORE your period is due isn't worth it. You wouldn't be able to trust it is the test said negative. You will only be 7 days past ovulation. I guess in some rare situations an egg could travel that fast but it usually needs 10 to 14 days to really get settled in there. I myself had a + pregnancy test 10 days past ovulation which is 4 days before my period was due.

Go check out that chart and buy a two pack test. Test now and if it is negative then test again in two days. The HCG levels in your body double every two to three days. It goes up pretty fast.

You should wait until at least 4 days after your missed period. Pregnancy tests can give false negatives, but not false positives.

If you take it too soon you might get a false reading.

You also have to take into consideration if your periods are regular or not.

Well I would say the soonest being 14 days after you think you may have ovulated would be the soonest with a HPT, But you can do blood work and that would say 6 days after you conceived. If you plan to test before you get your period I would say do it with morning urine and if at all possible with a blood test. A couple days before your period then you could go with the morning urine and a HPT. goodluck

it's best to wait until you are at least one day late. even the tests that say they can detect HCG earlier don't necessarily READ THE FINE PRINT! you end up waisting a lot of money when you test to early... and you COULD be getting a lot of false negatives. your doctor can order a blood test on the day before you miss your period though!

You can take it from the first day of a missed period. Sure, take it at home. Then, if it is positive, you can go to a doctor.

try sooner or later after your era is meant to commence. that's the ordinary rule for those tests. try to purchase a being pregnant try that incorporate 2 tests. That way you may take the 2nd try a pair days later, just to be on the risk-free factor.
