Okay heres the deal, my husband cant sleep unless the tv is on, thats how he falls asleep which is all fine and good except i cant sleep if its on any lights, noise, etc makes me not sleepy at all and actually rather annoyed...i usually just wait for him to fall asleep and then turn it off and I sleep but its been awhile and im getting tired which i think is making me cranky! and even if i have fallen asleep while hes at work at night and the tv is off, as soon as he gets into bed it goes on..does anyone have any idea what we can do to solve this lol..and divorce is not an option we have a wonderful marriage!

It sounds like you may have a sleep disorder. My husband and I had the same problem and I went to a sleep center for evaluation. Turns out that I was never getting to the deep stages of sleep (that's why the light, noise etc.. bothered me so bad). They put me on Ambian, and now I sleep through the night with no problems. Good luck to you - I know how frustrating that lifestyle can be!

Ask him to try listening to music and use a stereo or radio with a sleep timer - you can set them from 10 minutes to an hour.
There are some good suggestions here. If none of them works or is appealing to you (or him), then you might need to consider counseling. It might be that one of you has a sleeping disorder (probably him), but it could just be a habit that he needs to break (if the marriage is that important to him). Of course, if he is arrogant and has to have his way, then - good luck!

It sounds like he needs *white noise* to go to sleep. For me and my spouse, we turn a fan on at night. The hum is enough to sleep to, but not too noisy to be annoying. They also have nature tapes that you can play at night to listen to. It might be helpful to you both if you try a fan (humidifier, something that makes a teeny bit of noise) or tapes. That way its new for you both, and its not saying either of your ways are best. I can barely sleep if its all quiet, so I understand his pain. But I cannot sleep with any light on, so I see your point too. Just keep looking till you find something you both can live with.

What if you moved the TV to a more common area, like not your bedroom. Like most people have it in the living room. Perhaps you can sit with him and come to a happy medium compromise.

That's a hard one... same thing but refurse the roles i like to sleep with noice light ect.. my sweetie doen'st well i learned how to sleep with out all that stuff...
personal choice...
I would talk to him and have him try a for a week with out the tv if he is having a hard time switch off and on every week!
it would suck if you lost elelctricity...
or as sucky as it maybe maybe you both need your own rooms?
i'ts a thought not as lovealbe but heck we all need our sleep
?Good luck

I am glad that you are not thinking of divorce. what i would do is ask him to buy ear plugs for the set because of the noise and see if that works or maybe you try the ear plugs . and a night light

Separate bedrooms, with the occasional "sleep over". It's fun!

there are better things to do than all this when you two are together.
after that getting into sleep will not be a problem to either of you
