Depends on what you like to read, but as a brain unclogger I´d recommend "Atlas Shrugged" from Ayn Rand.
If you like Serious SF I´d recommend David Weber´s Honor Harrington´s Series.
If you like biographies, I´d recommend "Caesar" from Christian Meier.
If you look for Specific Historical info, I´d recommend "The Discoverers" by Daniel Boorstijn.
If you look for Warfare History, I´d recommend the "Guns of August" by Barbara Tuchman, "Freedom at Midnight" by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins.
Also good is "The rise and fall of the British Empire" (I don´t have the author in mind, sorry)
The "Ottoman Centuries", By Lord Kinross.
"The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers" By Kennedy (It´s and older book (1981) but everything up to contemporary has powerful insight.
If I think of anything else I´ll let you know.

I enjoy Andrew Greeley's book , he's a fiction writer, tends to write about a parish priest who is a sort of a detective and the whole irish clan around him.
I also like any of Wayne Dyer's books, Deepak Chopra, Stepeh Covey.
For pure escapism I like any of Jackie Collins' books, Nora Roberts/ JD Robb's.
I loved Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Alboom and the 5 People you meet in Heaven - same author as above.
Farley Mowatt's Never Cry Wolf is excellent as are any of the late Pierre Berton's books.
Kind of hard to just give a list without knowing what types of books you like and what authors you've already read. Hope this helps.

King Fortis the Brave would be a great book for you. It's about a pair of twins that are brought into a magical realm where they are caught in the middle of a battle for control of the land. It's really well written and full of just the right mixture of humor and action.
