It's great but I didn't expect them to accept

The losing side is often ready for a truce, if only temporarily.

"Truce? Yeah, that sounds great. We can get Israel off our back while we regroup so we can attack them again! I'll take that truce!"

I agree with big pappa. Hezbollah is getting the crap kicked out of them and they are losing big time. If Israel wanted to they could have killed everyone in Lebanon very easy but have been holding back not wanting to kill anyone but Hezbollah. So the war is going bad for Hezbollah and if they don't stop it soon they will formally lose and would lose the support they now have. At this minute they have bragging rights because of how long they can clam they held the strongest army in the middle east back. And the nutie people in the middle east will beleive they really did. It might make Iran be stupid and think they can over power Israel which I hope and pray they try. I can't think of any country I would like to see go down more then i want to see Iran go down.

Hi Patrick. Yes of course, I think this is very possible - and SmartKat has answered it very well. I remember Sun Zi's quote from "Art of War":

"One's camouflage and fake movements must be perfectly executed so that they leave no trace for the enemy to detect. In this way, even the craftiest spy cannot ascertain one's actual strength, even the wisest commander cannot work out a method to deafeat one."

If a terrorist organization were to accept a truce, that means they could have lost
1. weapons and ammunition
2. manpower to fight
3. willpower

and lastly,
4. loss of religious idealogies backing the terrorist organization.

However, would such an organization with powerful national support, and a "reputed" organization for carrying out guerrilla warfare? Perhaps (I think) they are using reverse psychology - making the UN believe that they have sincerely admittted to their wrongdoings, etc. in terms of idealogies, and then launch an attack far more powerful than anyone could ever imagine.

This would virtually guarantee sucess - and sorry, I have no choice but to use another of Sun Zi's quotes:

"A wise commander always tries to avoid meeting the enemy's dashing spirit; he will not attack the enemy until they are idle and inclined to return."

Similarly, it proves that Hezbollah would most likely ensure that the UN or simply Israel's forces have "died down" before they launch a full-scale attack, even with support from Iran and Syria!

hezbollah are our freedom fighters & we do not consider them terrorists .Hezbollah has always accepted UN resolution ..but like others ,you may accept it as a whole or not but have to do .Do not understand me wrong ,hezbollah do hate these resolutions .
1-hezbollah has worked to oblige israel to accept the UN resolution 425 .this resolution have taken 18 years by israel to accept .
2-there is this resolution (i forgot its number )(its a very old one ) that asks israel to accept the returning of the palestinian refugees ..but israel till now refuses .Hezbollah for this has always opposed the idea of giving the palestinians refugees the lebanese citizenship .
3-1559 :yes i know you may tell me that they didnot accept this resolution .but then ,hezbollah was not mentioned in this resolution .but wat was mentioned is to disarm the lebanese militia .Hezbollah in the lebanese definition is a resistant .(not a militia )

wat did hezbollah really said :(bcz am lebanese & i know somehow how hezbollah work)el sayyeid Hasan Nasrallah the leader of hezbollah said in his telivised word :we are a resistent ,we work as a reaction to a certain action .
this sentence is the key in hezbollah speech :
1-if israel ceases airstrikes ==>this means no rockets .
2-if israel go out of our borders ==>they will not kill them
3-if israel stays in our lands even for few hours & do not start to go out ==>hezbollah reaction would be (kill as much as you can from them )

its not strange from hezbollah to accept something that might get relief to his people, even if it hurt them & deny the announcement of their military victory .they have aways worked for the lebanese .
wat about israel would they accept to cease violence ,nope it will not .they will continue to invade more in lebanon but they might say i stoped airstriking for example
http://www.haaretz.com (an israelien newspaper go check out )

this acceptance by hezbollah was not new to us .we were afraid he would so ,bcz israel in the previous month was targeting civilians .targeting civilians is wat made sayyeid Nassrallah to accept it without any hesitation . why do not you go back few days ago when hizbollah asked israel to stop airstriking civilians
& they stop launching rockets ,but then it was israel who refused.

they knew wat to play .
if you can not take a military victory ,go take it in diplomacy .

They are getting the crap beat out of them, even if they don't admit it. They are probably running low on ammo, and Lebanon is probably running low on energy.
