Glass will always be better lenses for sunglasses. UV protection is good, but polarization is important to in order to cut back any glare. If you plan on wearing them out on the water, polarized lenses help you see into the water as they cut down the glare and refection off the water. Lens color is simply a personal preference. I prefer a brown or gray tint as the colored lens just don't do it for me. If you are going to take good care of them, spend a few extra bucks and get some REVO or MAUI JIM sunglasses. They have some of the best lenses and great styles around. If not, you can get some inexpensive, plastic lenses that are polarized for about $20-30. Oh....if you belong to COSTCO, look there. You can buy Maui Jim, Revo or other good brands for great discounts. I got my Maui Jim's there for $99 and Sunglass Hut sells them for $250+. Your eyes are precious, protect them!!!!

Hey...I think it is all hype... just find a pair that looks good on you and go with it. No need to spend half your paycheck on this item.
