We had a torrential downpour earlier this week. I skipped watering for a day but then began again. The plants are yellowing & drooping. Is it possible to overwater & if so, how do I make this right?

Petunias like you describe probably are too wet. Usually, when you see chlorotic foliage, the plants need to dry a bit and to be fed. Next time they're dry enough to water, hit them with a shot of Miracle Gro or Peter's, or your favorite flowering plant fertilizer.

Sounds like they were overwatered. Do your containers have good drainage? If not, sorry, it could be too late. They are heavy feeders but drainage is essential; roots need air too.
